Stairlift dimensions: How much space do I need to install a stairlift?
The width of our stairlifts varies from 64 to 77 cm (with the chair unfolded), depending on the model. You will not have any space issues with a Stannah stairlift – a stairlift with a folded seat doesn’t take up more than 30 cm on the stairs.

Can I install a stairlift regardless of the staircase's width?
You can install a Stannah stairlift on any straight, narrow or curved staircase. The stairs only need to be 65 cm wide.

Can I install a stairlift on narrow stairs?
Yes. Most staircases are wide enough to install a stairlift. Our technicians will identify the best place to park the stairlift, so it doesn’t get in the way of people who prefer to use stairs.

Can I install a stairlift by myself?
A stairlift is a piece of mobility equipment. So unless you are a technician trained to install Stannah stairlifts, you should not install them yourself.

How long does it take to install a stairlift?
Five hours – that is the average installation time of a stairlift. All the necessary work is done quickly, efficiently and without damaging your stairs.

Can stairlifts be installed on curved, narrow stairs?

Can I buy a stairlift second-hand?
It’s tempting to buy a second-hand stairlift. However, you must remember that a used stairlift is made-to-measure to fit your staircase’s length, angle and space between steps. Above all, you need to check the engine’s condition. Stannah doesn’t currently sell used stairlifts in Cyprus, but we’re here to help you choose the best stairlift to fit your needs and your budget.

Absolutely nothing. The cost of installing a Stannah stairlift is included in the final quote. Installing a stairlift doesn’t involve any building work, and you won’t need special permits, so there are no additional costs.

No. If you ask us for a free quote, we’ll come and visit you in your home to understand your wants and needs and evaluate your stairs. After that, we can give you a free, all-inclusive quote for the stairlift that best fits your needs and your home.
