Your home
Is my house right for a stairlift?
You may think your house is just not suited for a stairlift – that the stairs are too steep, or narrow, or long, or short. We’ve seen a lot of staircases in our time, so we’re sure if you need a lift, we can help you out. Whether your stairs are straight, have a landing in the middle, go around a corner or are a spiral staircase, give us a call so we can decide on the right stairlift for you.
Are my stairs too long?
Even the longest of straight stairs can most likely have a stairlift installed on them. If you’re worried about the length of your stairs, give us a call so we can book a survey and assess them for ourselves.
As for curved stairs, we haven’t reached a limit yet! Whether you live in a lighthouse or a tower block, we can get you moving again.
Are my stairs too steep?
Some people worry their stairs are too steep. If you think this might be the case, it’s worth scheduling a home survey. One of our consultants will carefully measure every inch of your staircase and tell you right there and then if a stairlift is a possibility. Chances are, it is, and they can even give you a quote for the lift that’s best for you.
Are my stairs too narrow?
As for the ‘too narrow’ problem, we have two chairs that might solve it:
- The Sadler is a perch seat that allows you to ride in a more upright position.
- The Siena has an especially designed curved seat back that means you sit further back in the chair.
Both models are designed so that your knees don’t knock against anything if you do have a particularly narrow staircase. If you can stand on your stairs, we can usually fit a stairlift on them.
What if there’s a doorway in the way?
If there’s a doorway at the top or bottom of the stairs, it isn’t a problem. You can still use your door and it won’t stop you from getting a stairlift. We can install a retractable rail so that it folds, moving out of the way of the door when you’re not using it. The rail unfolds automatically when you want to use your stairlift, so there’s no heavy lifting involved.
Will other people still be able to use the stairs?
Yes. Our rails hardly take up any room on your stairs and your chair folds away neatly. People will still be able to use your stairs just like they did before.
Buying a Stannah Stairlift
How much does a Stannah Stairlift cost?
Our stairlifts are tailored to you and your house, so prices vary depending on your needs. One big factor that can affect the price of your stairlift is whether your stairs are straight or curved. Other factors are:
- the length of your stairs
- the chair that’s right for your needs
- if you want to go up more than one floor
- If you need any additional features for extra comfort and safety
To find out the price of the perfect stairlift for you, call us now to book your free, no-obligation home survey. One of our advisers goes to your house to assess your needs and gives you an on-the-spot, personalised quote.
Can I buy a second-hand Stairlift from Stannah?
Yes, and we can guarantee that it meets all the safety regulations our new stairlifts meet. Before you buy a second-hand stairlift from us, the lift is tested rigorously, until we’re sure it deserves our ‘reconditioned’ badge. When it earns the badge, we’re sure we can install it safely in your home, and it even comes with a full year’s warranty.
I’ve seen other brands that sell cheaper stairlifts – why?
At Stannah we’ve spent over 40 years perfecting our stairlifts. We’ve put a lot of research into innovation to make our stairlifts safer and more comfortable. It’s these safety and comfort features, combined with the quality of the materials used to build your stairlift, that make it work perfectly for decades. After all, it’s something you use every day – you want to feel confident that it’ll be there for you when you need it. You also have to consider the value for money. When you buy a Stannah you know you can rely on it for your future.
You can make a Stannah your own
As well as being reliable, our stairlifts are the most customisable out there. We offer you the option to tailor your stairlift to your house and your needs. From different options of upholstery to different colours, you can really make your stairlift your own. We know it’s important that it slots into your home and your life.
We’re always pushing ourselves to improve
We’re always conducting research into how we could make our stairlifts safer and more comfortable for you. We are one of only 3 companies in the world that own an arthritis suit – a tool that helps us empathise with our customers. That’s just one example of the ways in which we are always pushing ourselves to improve and better meet your needs.
We follow the strictest health and safety regulations
All our stairlifts are made in our own Stannah factories in the EU. Trained Stannah engineers design, plan and make each and every stairlift, so we have complete control over the whole process. It also means we follow the strictest health and safety regulations.
We only use the highest quality materials
Because we manufacture each and every part of our stairlifts ourselves, we can be sure only the highest quality materials are used, and that each part meets our high expectations. This attention to detail is what makes our stairlifts last as long as they do, and keep you moving for as long as possible.
It may be slightly more expensive than other brands, but a Stannah is well worth the investment into your future. You can trust us on that.
